How we check devices

Every used device is checked by us in the UK before it's listed. The result is printed on that unit's listing, with the date it was checked. Sealed devices are not opened; their listing says so.

What we check on every used device

  • Screen and touch — the main display, and on folding devices the inner display across every panel and the cover display too
  • Body and moving parts — buttons, ports, and on folding devices the hinges: open, close, hold at an angle
  • Cameras — front and rear
  • Charging — the port, wired charging, and wireless charging where the model has it
  • Connectivity — Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and calls and data on a UK SIM
  • Battery — health read from the system diagnostics before listing. Every used device we sell has at least 90% battery health; anything below that doesn't get listed
  • Software and SIM — the installed version, whether Google Play works, and the SIM setup (most of our devices use physical SIMs only; we say so if eSIM isn't supported)
  • UK networks — which 4G and 5G bands the model supports, checked against the UK carriers and shown on the listing
  • Cosmetic condition — graded by what you can see at 30 cm; see Conditions explained

What we don't do

We don't open devices, replace parts, or "refurbish". A used device from us is the device as it was made, checked and honestly described. If a check turns up something we can't live with, the device doesn't get listed.

What you'll see on the listing

A label with the four things that decide whether a device is right for you — condition, installed firmware, whether Google Play works, and UK network support — plus the full check list with its date, and photographs labelled as either that unit or the batch it belongs to.
